Filmmaker's Name: Kelly Buckholdt

Film Title: Truth Rises

In 50 words or less, what is your film about?

On the surface it’s an older sister supporting a younger brother when he gets in trouble for a mistake in the family business but there are clues in the conversation to figure out what is below the surface - what the family business is and if the audience doesn't guess that works too because the answer will come up at the end.

Was there anything strange, funny, interesting, sad, scary, or otherwise unusual about making this film?

There was something disgusting but we will have to save that for Q&A.

What is your connection to Mississippi?  If you don’t have one, why did you choose to enter your film into a Mississippi festival?

Everyone in the cast and crew lives in Mississippi and the film was shot at the reservoir near Ridgeland. I think this my fourth year screening at Crossroads, plus my daughter's film screened here last year and other crew members have screened films here as well.

Anything else you’d like the audience to know about your film?

"Truth Rises" is a good example of the type of films that we are trying to encourage with the Mississippi Film Collaborative - 3 minute shorts that can be accomplished over a weekend and utilize local filmmakers/actors of various experience levels. MFC has a Facebook page and meets in the Jackson area.
