Critics:

“Crossroads provides more than just films to watch. Film fans have the opportunity to meet many of the filmmakers and discuss the filmmaking process as well as participate in free screenwriting workshops. Even the youngest fans will get a chance to learn about the filmmaking process.”

Chris Gore - Film Threat

The Crossroads Film Festival is the largest film festival in Mississippi and commemorates its tenth anniversary in 2009. Founded in 1999 in the capital city of Jackson—known as “The Crossroads of the South”—the four-day festival was designed as a meeting place where the strands and influences of art, themes and culture come together. Every event celebrates film, music and food, along with the great culture and heritage of Mississippi. Each year the festival provides a cross-cultural backdrop of screenings, concerts and receptions. Over the years, the festival has celebrated filmmakers with ties to Mississippi, beginning with Robert Altman in its premiere year and continuing to native Morgan Freeman, new resident Joey Lauren Adams, and Vicksburg native Charles Burnett. Crossroads has been the first Mississippi stop for most films made in Mississippi.

“CONGRATULATIONS!!!!  I am so impressed with all that y’all have done this year.  I had NEVER received so many emails before, during and after the festival and that is just wonderful.  I wasn’t there in person, but I was in spirit REALLY.  Thanks for keeping me in the loop and as the first president of the board, I salute your work and dedication.  From experience I know it takes a lot to do the festival each year and you did a fabulous job.  I even saw you on Youtube!  FANTASTIC!!

All the best to the Crossroads Film Society, its board of directors, festival committee, and volunteers!!!!”

Lorena Manriquez, former president of Crossroads Film Society
