Film Title: Lotus
In 50 words or less, what is your film about?

Lotus is a short music narrative about a young starlet named Lotus. When faced with a series of awkward and challenging situations, she is forced to leave her comfort zone in order to grow.
What was your motivation to make this film… why this film, and why now?

I wanted to make something to reflect my own personal journey. Although the scenes are completely fictional, the overall story is a metaphor for overcoming tough times.
Was there anything strange, funny, interesting, sad, scary, or otherwise unusual about making this film?

The first scene of the film, the casting couch, is a homage to a banned Calvin Klein commercial from the 90’s. Although we shot the scene back in 2015, it has become more relevant than ever now with the expose on the toxic casting couch culture present in Hollywood and in the media at the moment.

What is your connection to Mississippi?  If you don’t have one, why did you choose to enter your film into a Mississippi festival?

Because the character of “Lotus” is Southern American.
