In 50 words or less, what’s this film about?
Little Ami finds out her mother must leave on a business trip. Mom tells her a white lie to appease her mind while she is away. Find out what happens when the innocent lie turns true in a way neither of them expected.

What inspired you to make this film?
I had to take care of my little niece called “Amalia” when her parents were on a business trip. That’s why the film is called “Ami”. It’s dedicated to her. I could feel her suffering during that time. Afterwards I started learning about upbringings theories and I remembered a phrase of my favorite philosopher, Bertrand Russell: “There is no valid reason to fool a kid.” And poem named "Kids," from Juan Gelman, was a source of inspiration:

"what does the kid do with the light in the palm of his hand, while all others work to make money outside of the light? / closed away from that light that cannot be seen without an inner light / without a painful love within?"

What’s your connection to Mississippi?  (If you don’t have one, why did you apply to a Mississippi festival?)
My nephew Emiliano - we call him “Emi” - was born in New Orleans. When I visited my sister back in 2008, I took him for a walk at the Mississippi’s boardwalk and then we went into the Audubon Aquarium. We had fun and a perfect day! He will be the co-protagonist of our new film. (You can find a sketch attached).

Anything else you want the audience to know about your film:
Thank you for your time!  We wish someday both parents and kids can watch the film together. We hope we have contributed to deepen and broaden the debate about parenting and addressed gender issues.

Please let me know if you need anything else from us.  I beg your pardon If there is anything you can't understand. My mother tongue is Spanish as I am Uruguayan.

Cheers,
Gonzalo San Vicente
